Week One

For reasons that are not entirely clear to me yet I’ve decided that I’m going to start writing a weekly blog, if for no other reason than to document my unique progression into INSIGNIFICANCE. I don’t know what to write yet, but maybe it’ll get easier.

When I was a student I once printed the first good picture I ever made on five hundred beer mats and distributed them around Burton On Trent. On the reverse side it simply said my name, contact details and ‘Just Looking: a beautiful insignificance’. I also made a book called ‘Insignificance’, where I printed each picture twice, once at the front and again at the back, upside down. Which, in hindsight, seems kind of fucking stupid, to be honest.

But anyway, this week! I started re-watching the Harry Potter films. I passed my theory test. I overslept too often. I made archive prints from my 001 project. I started to work on 002, and I’m quite disappointed with the results. I was impressively consistent with my exercise routine, and I enjoyed some vegan food. I developed a lump on my index finger. I went to Nando’s with some friends from work and embarrassed myself with ’wing roulette’. I woke up at exactly the same time three nights on the spin with a terrible cough. I drank a lot of water, and that always helps. I came up with an idea for my debut novel. I bought ‘About Looking’ and Ways of Seeing by’ John Berger.  I hurt my shoulder, but otherwise feel very fit and strong. I’m considering selling my photography equipment and becoming a reclusive writer that lives in a cave. I don’t know what to write yet, but maybe it’ll get easier.
